Ever have someone who regularly engages in casual sex tell you that they don’t use condoms because condoms are useless and don’t provide any protection? They know this because that is what they were “taught in school.” Condoms are just a scam.

Welcome to the glorious reality of abstinence only education!

The more I think about it the more pissed off I get. These people who are teaching kids that condoms are useless should be held criminally responsible. Since they are the same people who believe that abortion is murder, they should be brought up on murder charges for every abortion they have contributed to; every STD-related death, and every suicide, too. They should be forced to provide the financial and hands-on care of the children that are conceived due to their lies.

Is it irresponsible to make the choice of having unprotected sex at the risk of unwanted pregnancy or disease? Yes and no. The lie works both ways. By saying that condoms don’t actually work you are implying that there is an unrealistically low risk involved when having unprotected sex. Why? Well, look at all of these people that have been having “unprotected” sex (using useless condoms) with no consequences!

I honestly think we would be better off with no sex education at all than with sex miseducation. You can do the research on the numbers that prove just how ineffective abstinence only education really is at preventing teen pregnancy and STDs for yourself. The evidence of is glaring in that impersonal statistical way. And that is enough to make it worth changing, but it’s not what makes me crazy.

What disturbs me the most are the personal stories you find when you Google “abstinence only” “condoms don’t work”. Try it. Read what people have to say about the films they saw that are used in these programs and the horrifying questions their children asked them about condoms and sex. You’ll come away from it feeling like the people who designed abstinence only education want to hurt and kill kids.

If you want to see abstinence only sex miseducation come to an end, here is a website that will help you send an email to President Obama on the matter. Please do this soon as he is working on the 2010 budget right now and it will be finalized very soon.

He is asking for $5 billion of the bailout money. The request is made, for the most part, to prove a point. And that’s what I love about Larry. He has proven on many occasions that he will lay it all on the line to prove a point, but not in the sense that some people can’t give up a useless argument. Larry’s point is always something that, in the end (no pun intended) benefits us all.

Whether I agree or disagree with the finer points of his politics or anything else is truly irrelevant. He is a shining light in the battle for freedom of speech and just plain freedom of being, in a world that would have you believe such things are of little meaning compared to other issues. Yet, these are the core issues. Until more people step up to that challenge, all else is lost. Larry is one of the few who, after achieving enough monetary wealth and power to speak out, has continued to pursue the interest.
